Shangrao Travel | A Complete 3-Day 2-Night Guide ✨ With Experience
Guys, Shangrao is seriously an underrated gem of a travel destination!! Here, you'll find dreamlike landscapes and ancient villages with timeless charm—every spot is breathtakingly beautiful. Just back from my trip to Shangrao, I've put together this 3-day 2-night guide to ensure you have a fun and hassle-free experience!
Itinerary
Day 1: Wangxian Valley → Gexian Village
Morning: After arriving in Shangrao, head straight to Wangxian Valley. The moment you step out of the car, you'll be stunned by this "immortal world" on the cliffs! Stroll along the plank walkways with babbling streams beneath your feet and staggered houses clinging to the cliffs above—it feels like stepping into a fantasy drama. Don’t miss the local Dengzhan Guo (lantern-shaped rice cakes)—soft and chewy on the outside with a savory filling.
Afternoon: Depart from Wangxian Valley to Gexian Village. After checking in, explore the village. The architecture here is full of rustic charm, with many traditional handicraft shops. At night, don’t miss the light show—water screens and lights intertwine for a truly spectacular experience!
Day 2: Sanqing Mountain
Morning: Rise early and take the cable car up the mountain. The bizarre peaks and rocks of Sanqing Mountain are absolutely stunning! "Giant Python Emerging from the Mountain" looks like a massive serpent piercing the clouds, while "Oriental Goddess" gazes gracefully over the land. The misty clouds make it feel like a fairyland.
Afternoon: Walk along the West Coast Plank Road, admiring the rolling mountains and vast sea of clouds. Take a break at a rest area to snack and recharge. Around 4–5 PM, take the cable car back down.
Day 3: Huangling
Morning: Visit Huangling to experience the unique charm of the "Sun-Drying Autumn" tradition. The staggered Hui-style architecture, paired with colorful drying racks, makes every photo a masterpiece. Be sure to try local snacks like glutinous rice cakes—sweet, soft, and chewy.
Afternoon: Wander the ancient streets, stop by a teahouse for a cup of fragrant tea, and enjoy the leisurely view outside the window. Then pack up and prepare for your return trip.
