Yuyao Yangming Ancient Town Fuqian Road Historical and Cultural District

The historical and cultural district of Fuqian Road in Yuyao City extends from Sanguantang Road in the east, to Nanbinjiang Road in the south, to Xinjian Road in the west, and to Yangming East Road in the north, covering a total area of 16.15 hectares.
Within the ancient town, there is the Tongji Bridge, which was first built during the Qingli period of the Northern Song Dynasty. It spans the Yao River, connecting the northern and southern parts of Yuyao, resembling a long rainbow lying on the waves, with a majestic momentum. Tongji Bridge is also known as Shunjiang Bridge. Because it is the longest and highest bridge on the Yao River, it is called the "First Bridge of Eastern Zhejiang".
The Shunjiang Tower and Tongji Bridge within the ancient town form a combined structure of "a long rainbow soaring into the sky, with a flying pavilion stabilizing the flow".
An ancient poem describes: "A whale strikes heavily to stabilize the East Sea, looking down at the Yangtze River like a crouching dragon." "The ancient customs of the mountain city recall Yao, the river tower in the setting sun evokes vast thoughts." These lines depict the majestic appearance of Tongji Bridge and Shunjiang Tower.
As an important historical area of the ancient city of Yuyao, the historical and cultural district of Fuqian Road currently preserves representative courtyard residences with local architectural features of Yuyao, such as Yechun Hall of the Ye family, the Ye family scholar's house, the Zhou family wall gate, the Li family residence, and the Shi family hall residence. The architectural styles mostly feature white walls and black tiles, with various styles of gables such as Guanyin's pocket and horsehead walls.
As a major component of the core area of Yangming Ancient Town, the historical and cultural district of Fuqian Road integrates traditional Chinese studies and arts, cultural and creative handmade training, fashionable light dining, leisure and entertainment, various creative and new retail stores, and collection shops, as well as Yuyao's "time-honored brands" and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, making it a waterfront ancient town district that combines traditional culture with fashion trends.
