A Must-Visit in This Lifetime! Zhangjiajie Family Summer Escape Guide, The Post-Rain Sea of Clouds Is Stunning Beyond Words

A summer paradise you must visit in your lifetime—I rarely use the word "breathtaking" to describe a place❗

Just got back from Zhangjiajie with the kids, feeling refreshed and cool

The mist after the rain weaves between the peak forest

Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain look like the real-life version of the "Avatar" world

The kids kept exclaiming, "It feels like walking in the sky!"
Three thousand unique peaks pierce the clouds on the mountain; summer thunderstorms are frequent, making it easier to encounter the sea of clouds🌫️

After the rain clears, the entire forest looks freshly washed and vibrant

At the foot of the mountain, Jinbian Stream flows gently; the kids splashed in the water and caught little fish, playing until they didn’t want to leave

Bringing kids to Zhangjiajie during summer vacation is truly cool and eye-opening!
【3 Days 2 Nights Family Itinerary】

Day❶: Easy Start, First Experience with Mountains and Water

Enter through the South Gate of the Forest Park → Take the Huangshizhai Cableway (kids love it) → Walk half of Jinbian Stream (water play + hiking) → Exit via Shuilao Simen

Tips: Jinbian Stream is flat and easy to walk, shaded along the way; remember to bring water guns and a change of clothes!

Day❷: A Day Tour of the Peak Forest Wonders

Enter through the East Gate → Bailong Elevator (thrilling instant ascent to the mountaintop) → View the Floating Mountains at Yuanjiajie → Enjoy the sea of clouds at Tianzi Mountain → Take the cableway down

Tips: The mountain route is long; bring some light snacks. Yangjiajie has many steps, so adjust the route for young children as needed.

Day❸: Tianmen Mountain High-Altitude Challenge

Take the A-line cable car straight to the summit → Walk the West Line Glass Skywalk (exciting for brave kids) → See Tianmen Cave via the mountain escalator → Descend by either the 999-step stairway or escalator
【Family Highlights Explained】

🔹 Huangshizhai: The circular viewing platform route is easy, like walking on a giant natural sandbox; kids love searching for "Sun Wukong’s Golden Whip Rock"

🔹 Jinbian Stream: 7.5 km of gentle streamside trail, a filming location for Journey to the West + water play, cool and fun

🔹 Bailong Elevator: Ascends to the mountaintop in just over a minute; inside the elevator, you see peaks rising from the ground—kids say "It’s like riding a rocket"

🔹 Yuanjiajie: The prototype of Avatar’s floating mountains is here; Mysterious Terrace offers wide views, kids get dizzy counting peaks

🔹 Tianzi Mountain: When the sea of clouds comes, it looks like riding on clouds; Yubi Peak resembles a giant calligraphy brush, sparking kids’ imagination
The temperature on the mountain is about 5℃ cooler than at the foot, so remember to bring a light jacket for the kids!
