Zhangjiajie is straight-up epi

Zhangjiajie is straight-up epic if you’re into misty mountain vibes, crazy canyon views, and mind-bending architecture 🤩🌄. Here’s my go-to guide for making the most out of a couple days here—no filters needed.

Top Spots to Visit:
1. The First Bridge Under the Sun
Location: Yuanjiajie Scenic Spot, Wulingyuan District
Open: 08:00-18:00 (last entry 16:00)
Tip: Arrive early to dodge the crowds and catch those legendary clouds-and-fog photos. There’s tons of trails, so wear hiking shoes and pack a rain jacket—weather changes fast in these mountains (my hike was way more comfortable pre-rain!).

2. Tianmen Mountain Heaven-Linking Avenue
Location: Tianmen Mountain, Yongding
Open: Off season 08:00-18:00, Peak season 06:30-20:30 (last entry 16:00)
Tip: Take the cable car up for max thrill, then walk the glass skywalks if you dare! Try sunset for surreal mountain colors (and epic night shots of the winding roads).

3. 72 Wonder Tower
Location: #1 Wulingshan Ave, Yongding District
Open: 08:00-23:00 (admission dependa on day- or night-ticket
Tip: Visit at night for wild light displays and classic Chinese architectural shots. This place is unexpectedly photogenic, especially under cloudy skies.

Getting Around:
The National Forest Park shuttle buses save so much time and energy. Tip: Download a translation app—local drivers are super friendly but English signage is limited.

Food:
Go local in Wulingyuan. The steamed mountain veggies and spicy tofu hotpot are legit. Skip the big restaurants for tiny family-run spots near the park entrance.

Destination Tips:
Cash is king for local vendors. Weather is unpredictable, so layer up and bring backup power for your phone/camera. Buy tickets in advance at trip.com to save time.
