Dai Mei Village: The "Zhouzhuang of Southern Fujian" with a human touch.

Dai Mei Village is located in the lower reaches of the Nanxi River in Jiulong River, Dongyuan Town, Longhai District, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. It was established during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 570 years. Dai Mei Village has the largest and best-preserved ancient residential building complex in southern Fujian. The villagers have adhered to the "house system does not exceed the ancestral system" for generations, that is, the houses are all unified in orientation, unified in construction, unified in style, unified in supporting facilities, and unified in drainage. The 276 ancient houses are arranged in a symmetrical pattern according to the "Nine Palaces" pattern, and the pattern, shape, and size are almost the same, and they are aligned horizontally and vertically, and are neat and uniform.
