Putuo Mountain 2 Days 1 Night Guide | Hiking + Blessings

This time I visited the three main temples: Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, and Huiji Temple, each with a different focus for prayers~

🚢Transportation Route
Shanghai - Ningbo (High-speed train) - Zhujiajian Pier (Bus) - Putuo Mountain (Boat)
• Boat tickets: can be bought on-site or in advance via WeChat official account/Trip.com
• Boat ride: about 20 minutes, no access to the deck, just sit inside the cabin～
🏞Route Arrangement
If you have good stamina, you can visit the three main temples in one day. Arrive at Putuo Mountain on Day 1, then hike the three main temples early on Day 2 (clockwise from Puji Temple to Fayu Temple to Huiji Temple); if you prefer a more relaxed pace, Day 1: arrive on the island + Puji Temple + Fayu Temple, Day 2: Huiji Temple + Nanhai Guanyin

【Puji Temple】Comprehensive
👉 The “showcase temple” of Putuo Mountain, the largest and most popular with incense offerings
Yuanyong Treasure Hall: pray for safety;
Puxian Hall: pray for career success; Luohan Hall: attract noble people, ward off petty people;
Dizang Hall: fulfill filial piety, pray for deceased elders to ascend to paradise early, and for the living to have good health.
Mahavira Hall: East side Medicine Buddha for healing and disaster relief, center Shakyamuni Buddha for current peace, west Amitabha Buddha for future smoothness;
Pumen Hall: Thousand-Hand Guanyin, make one most important wish and also repay vows.
Wenshu Hall: pray for children’s studies and wisdom
Jialan Hall: pray for wealth from all directions and treasures from all sides
【Fayu Temple】Mainly for peace and health
👉 Located on the mountainside, about a 25-minute walk up, or you can take the scenic area shuttle. Be sure to touch the “Nine-Dragon Wall,” said to bring good luck and noble connections✨
【Huiji Temple】Mainly for marriage and fertility
👉 At the mountain top, you can hike up. Although there are 1,088 steps, it actually takes about 40 minutes, suitable for those who want to hike. You can also take the cable car up (one way 40 RMB). The cable car offers amazing views, overlooking the entire Putuo Mountain. After praying, don’t forget to visit the nearby viewing platform to see the sea of clouds—super beautiful!
【Nanhai Guanyin】At the foot of the mountain, the huge Guanyin statue faces the sea, very impressive
You can walk back to the pier along the seaside and beach
☕️About Food
The original flavor dishes are indeed good, the most impressive is the braised hairtail fish, very appetizing
On the way, I also bought cute gourd tea at Puji Temple’s Xianghua Street. After drinking the juice, the bottle can be used as a water bottle, perfect for hikers like us. They also gave a bracelet and an omamori, which you can wear—so adorable
💡Tips
✨ There is luggage storage on the island. If you stay at a homestay on the island, you can leave your luggage at the pier and pick it up after your tour.
✨ It’s recommended to buy incense inside the temples
✨ Wear comfortable shoes! There’s a lot of mountain walking
