The whole town is built along the river, with streets connected by bridges. It has large courtyards, high roofs and eaves, riverside corridors, arcades across the street, bamboo and stone railings, and pavilions overlooking the river. It is simple and quiet, and is a typical example of the small bridges and flowing water in the south of the Yangtze River.
