A Solo Trip to Zhuhai, Stayed at Hilton Hotel in Wanzi District, Very Satisfied

A three-day solo getaway from Shanghai to Zhuhai, with a flight under three hours. Since I was traveling alone, I chose Hilton. Why? During the off-season, the price of a five-star hotel room was around 500-600 yuan, and being new was definitely a big factor.

Secondly, taking a taxi from Gongbei Port wasn’t too far, just about 8 kilometers, costing around 20 yuan.

Their sea-view rooms offer a distant view of the Macau Peninsula. I also had plans for a day trip to Macau. Upon check-in, they gave me two complimentary ferry tickets worth 25 yuan each—so a total of 50 yuan saved!

Hotels are really stepping up their game these days. Because this one is relatively close to Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, they offer free shuttle service to the park, making it perfect for families with kids or couples. The round-trip shuttle saves you about 50 yuan!

They also offer a free 1-hour professional photoshoot. This is way more appealing than relying on amateur skills. The photographer knows all the angles and tricks, and with 50-60 shots, you’re bound to get enough for a perfect social media post. Just note that you need to book the shoot a day in advance (i.e., schedule it on your check-in day for the next day). The photographer will professionally retouch 3 photos for free, and you’ll receive them within 24 hours.

The 28th floor of the hotel houses a trendy local bar, open from 6 PM. Before 8 PM, there’s an all-you-can-drink cocktail deal. Window seats after 9 PM are in high demand. Besides drinks, the bar also serves food. With group deals, cocktails cost around 50-60 yuan per person, while à la carte prices range from 98-128 yuan per glass.

The hotel is located in Wanzi District, just an 8-minute walk from the pier’s seafood stalls. I didn’t go there, though—I opted for dining in the city center instead.

Here are three tried-and-true spots in Gongbei’s city center:
1. **Lei Garden Restaurant**, a time-honored Zhuhai establishment.
2. **Shengxiang Claypot Rice**, another old-school spot popular with Hong Kong visitors.
3. **Kam Moon Lung Seafood**, a well-known place for abalone and shark fin dishes. Affordable and flexible, with dozens of set options ranging from tens of yuan to a thousand.

For nearby attractions: The Lovers’ Road route can be explored over two days.
