The Ancient Carriage Museum of China is located north of Houliguanzhuang Village, Qiling Street, Linzi District, Zibo City, Shandong Province, on the east bank of the Zi River. It is the first ancient carriage museum in China to combine archaeological sites with cultural relic displays.
The main part of the Ancient Carriage Museum of China includes the Spring and Autumn Period Chariot and Horse Burial Exhibition Hall and the Ancient Carriage Display Hall. The Spring and Autumn Period chariot and horse burial pit was unearthed in 1990, containing ten buried chariots, and was listed as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries nationwide that year. The ancient carriage exhibition hall displays restored ancient carriages and chariot and horse ornaments from the Shang to Han dynasties, including a restored chariot from the Yin Ruins and bronze chariot and horse models from the Qin and Han dynasties. The ancient carriage display hall is divided into three exhibition halls, arranged chronologically, showcasing the origin, development, and technological improvements of carriages through artifacts, models, restored ancient carriages, pictures, and texts, as well as the roles carriages and horses played in warfare, transportation, logistics, production, and daily life.
