Located in the heart of the nationally renowned Zhoushan fishing grounds, Shengsi, known as the "East China Sea Fish Depot," boasts an abundant seafood offering year-round. Famous seafood includes yellow lobster, goji berry mussels, jellyfish skin, centipede jerky, and spearfish. Small yellow croaker, hairtail, and cuttlefish are also prominent products in Shengsi. Small yellow croaker is in season from March to May and from September to December.
Caiyuan Town Aquatic Product Market is the only centralized seafood market on the island, located near Haijing Road in the town center. You can find a variety of local seafood specialties there. Goji berry mussels are most common on Goji Island. The market updates its seafood twice a day, before 9:00 AM and at 4:00 PM.
Note: Most seafood brought back to the island by large ships is shipped directly to other markets. Only a small amount is brought ashore and concentrated at the Caiyuan Town Aquatic Product Market for local residents. The prices of these seafood purchased locally are not much cheaper than those purchased from other places.
