The weather was very good when we went there, with clear skies. We bought three tickets + a package for the grass raft, which was a good deal. We did not choose to take the battery car. We wanted to walk along the way, take pictures, see the scenery, and exercise. After walking back and forth, we found that our decision was wise. The place is not very big and it is completely manageable to walk. Of course, if you have a baby, it is recommended to push a stroller.

The wetlands are still covered with weeds in this season, but they have the beauty of winter's bleakness. The spring winds in Yunnan are very strong, and the reeds by the lake sway in the wind, which is a unique feeling.

At that time, when everyone was preparing to row the grass raft, they took a few more beautiful photos, but when they arrived, they were told that life jackets must be worn when rowing the grass raft, and if you want to stand on the island in the lake to take pictures, it is absolutely forbidden by the staff. To be honest, we found out after we went up that it is impossible to take pictures when rowing the grass raft (laughing and crying). Our grass raft had a lot of problems along the way, either the slider fell into the water, or it was spinning in place, and the wind was really strong! Before getting on the boat, I felt that the stipulated 30 minutes was very short and not enough to row. Only when I got on the boat did I know why such a small lake can be rowed for so long, because rowing the grass raft really needs to master the trick! It is recommended to sit on the grass raft! ! ! It's really a good experience! Generally, 3-5 people are arranged on a grass raft, which is determined by the size of the grass raft. If there are many people, the staff will arrange the grass to be thicker, and there is a slight sense of sinking when I just go up. After we got ashore, a gust of wind blew my straw hat off. Under the care of the staff, I jumped onto the row of straw rafts and retrieved my hat. It was soft and felt like it would sink, but it was okay. It was exciting! After the straw rafting, you can step on fish along the way. Stepping on fish is free, but if you step on one, you have to buy it back at 30 yuan per kilogram.

After riding the straw raft, you can follow the water plank road to the center of the lake. The pavilion in the center of the lake is the scenic spot where Hunan TV station filmed the show "Here Comes the Goddess".

(When the weather is good in the wetland park, it is very sunny, so it is best to bring a hat and sunglasses! You can rent hats from the vendors who set up stalls under the park overpass. It is very suitable for taking photos. We rented two for 10 yuan and paid a deposit of 25 yuan)

A beautiful place, suitable for a leisurely tour

I really like the color of the large hay fields. When matched with the sky, there is a beauty of color contrast on sunny days and a beauty of desolation and loneliness on rainy days.

This is more labor-saving. The battery car is estimated to take five minutes. Of course, those with good physical strength can hike the whole way. We were quite tired when we went to the volcano in the morning, so we could take a car.

I thought I would just wander around the wetland park, but once I got in, I felt something completely different.

If you have enough time, you can make a separate day trip to the wetland park and the downstream Blackfish River plus the hot springs. The wetland park is not far from the city, but be prepared to walk a lot.

We came in December and the sun was quite strong, so we had to change into two layers of clothing at noon. We suggest you come to the wetland park around 4pm, take a slow walk and you can see the sunset, which is really beautiful.

The wind is so strong! It will be more beautiful in spring, with many small animals and various flowers. Now we can only take a boat ride and look at the lake.

The most famous things here are stepping on the grass and rowing a straw boat. However, considering that it would get your pants and shoes wet, I didn't try it. It would be more suitable in summer.

The first stop after arriving in Tengchong is Beihai Wetland. This is also my favorite place in the whole journey. I like the scenery and the climate here.

The sun shines on my body and it feels warm. I am boating on the lake in the breeze. I look up and see the blue sky and white clouds. I take a deep breath and the air is filled with a fresh and natural smell. It seems that my rhinitis that I have experienced for many years has been cured.

Beihai Wetland belongs to the volcanic barrier lake ecosystem. Aquatic plants are densely intertwined in the water, and cycle through death and rebirth in the sufficiently moist soil until a meadow is formed floating on the water. The ten thousand year old volcanic barrier lake wetland has become a classic postcard of Tengchong.



Beihai Wetland Scenic Area is an ecological protection area surrounded by mountains. The lake is as calm as a mirror and aquatic plants grow wildly. The scenic area is not large and can be walked through in about two hours. The wetland is rich in flora and fauna, with wild flowers blooming in spring and summer and migratory birds coming here to spend the winter in autumn and winter. It is a good choice to walk back and forth along the plank road or take a cruise to the end and then walk back.



The ticket was purchased together with the chartered driver, 80 yuan including the experience of boating and rafting, which is cheaper than buying the ticket directly by yourself.

Tengchong Beihai Wetland Scenic Area is located in the northwest of Tengchong County, 12.5 kilometers away from the city. Beihai is the source of Dayingjiang River, surrounded by mountains, with a special geographical location. It belongs to the plateau volcanic barrier lake ecosystem. Most of the water surface is covered with grass rafts up to one meter thick, on which grow lush Beihai orchids, reed mat grass, Zizania latifolia, floating grass and many unnamed wild grasses and flowers. The scenic area is convenient for public transportation and self-driving on the side of the national highway. The scenic area is not very large and the sightseeing road is flat and the facilities are complete. Both young and old can complete it without pressure. Wouldn't it be beautiful to walk a little longer in the picturesque environment!

Beihai Wetland is a natural ecological park far from the city center. We hardly saw many people here today. Of course, due to the climate, we could hardly see migratory birds. But the environment is still good. Breathe fresh air, walk around the plank road for an hour, relax, and hear the calls of various birds from time to time. It is another feeling.

The ticket is 27.5 yuan, but after entering, many things actually require secondary consumption, such as boat trips, grass rafts, and ancient fishing methods. There are also many entertainment projects developed here, which can be used for team building, and some popular photo spots have been set up. I personally don’t like them. I always think that nature should not have too much human affectation. Of course, this may be a necessity for the survival of the scenic spot.

We arrived at Beihai Wetland at around 10 o'clock and successfully avoided most tourists. There is only one long plank road in the wetland. Tourists are sitting in the pavilions along the road and rarely walk around. The atmosphere of leisure is filled in the air. The sun in Tengchong is scorching, but once you hide in the pavilion, you can feel the cool breeze blowing through your heart. There is a row of plants next to the plank road, and there are also signs to introduce them. There are three cruise ship docks in the wetland, with rafts and boats for tourists to choose from. At the end of the plank road, you enter the ecological area, where you can see all kinds of animals and plants and have introductions.

The mountains and lakes meet, and the air and environment are both great. It was noon when we came out. Standing on the swing, we watched a carload of battery cars carrying tour groups coming in, and the number of people gradually increased. The only bug of Beihai Wetland is that its walking area is like a U. We thought we could get out at the end, but we had to go back, which was frustrating.

We thought the wetland tickets were too expensive, and the wetland landscape was a bit repetitive with the Erhai Sea Sheep Park, so we didn't go. Beihai Wetland is suitable for spring, and you can experience the fun of paddling on the grass raft.

There are three main activities in the wetland: grass skiing, grass stepping, and fish stepping. Grass skiing is similar to a small bamboo raft, but the planks are replaced with weeds. I will do the hard work and steer the rudder.

Stepping on the grass is like the Red Army crossing a swamp. It was tough for me. I made mistakes several times. One foot was shallow, the other was deep, and then, snap, I was deeply mired in the water, soaking wet.

Stepping on fish means catching small fish. Since I am exhausted in the stepping on grass stage, I will not participate in this stage, hahaha. After this wave of operations, I have no mana and need to go back to the city to replenish mana.

Sitting on the boat and watching the reflection is so beautiful. The experience of grass rafting is a special project. Unfortunately, we are not physically strong. I heard that it is easy to drift far away and can't paddle back. And the bamboo pole is so heavy. Give up... just watch. The experience of grass rafting project comes with the fish stepping project. After stepping on the fish, you have to take it away by yourself, 30 yuan per catty. Seeing that everyone is having fun, it's worth it!

Beihai Wetland is a wetland park. In the distance, you can see rolling green hills, and nearby are patches of grassland floating on the swamp. You can go boating or skiing on grass rafts on the water between the grasslands.

Grass walking means walking on a piece of grass floating on the wetland. The grass will slowly sink after being stepped on. The longer you stay on the grass, the more it will sink. The gaps between the grass must not be stepped on, as you will fall into the swamp immediately if you step on them.

The staff said the average water depth was 5 meters. We all wore rubber jumpsuits and life jackets and were fully prepared, but even so, we still screamed. This is simply the skill of floating on the water with an iron palm.

"Stepping on fish" is also one of the classic events. A group of us stood on a grass mat that had been prepared in advance, and stepped on the grass mat continuously to force the fish out of the water. As soon as the fish showed their heads, we took the opportunity to catch them. Of course, we were not so lucky. We had only seen the scene of catching fish on TV, and we didn't even see the shadow of the fish.

The weather was changeable from morning to night, sometimes rainy and sometimes sunny, and the wetland also showed different landscapes with the changing weather, sometimes gloomy and elegant, sometimes bright and gorgeous. It is said that the sunrise and sunset are the most beautiful.

The scenery is average, no different from wetlands in other places, and has no distinct features!

The scenery was not at its best at that time, there were not many birds and not many people. The ticket was 60, but due to the protection of the wetland, we could not go boating and could only walk on the plank road.

I went there during the Spring Festival in 2014. It was really beautiful! Although there were no birds, no orchids, no green grass, and although we didn’t see it at its most beautiful, its inherent tranquility and vastness still deeply moved me...

We bought the pass online, which includes wetland tickets, boat tickets and electric cars in the scenic area. We can pick up the tickets at the ticket office, which is 10 yuan cheaper per person than buying them on site.

I learned about Beihai Wetland from a program called "Is it true?" on CCTV-2. It verified a very unique phenomenon: people can step on grass floating on the water without sinking, and can use bamboo poles to help them move forward, just like on a bamboo raft. It's very interesting.



Special note: The park is closed in the afternoon on New Year's Eve, and when I arrived, it was closed at 14:00. Then I looked at it from a distance and saw a withered color, which means it is not suitable to go there in winter. According to online inquiries, April to May is the best time to go.

There are too few parking staff to direct the parking lot, so parking is quite chaotic.

There are many kinds of tickets: entrance tickets, sightseeing bus tickets, boat tickets, rafting tickets... You can buy them in combination or individually, so think about it in advance before buying tickets. We bought a package ticket, which included entrance tickets, sightseeing bus tickets, and electric boat tickets. After entering the gate, take a sightseeing bus (a few minutes away), then take a boat (more than ten minutes), and the place where you get off the boat will return to the entrance. It is recommended not to buy a sightseeing bus ticket, because it only takes ten minutes to walk, and you can also walk along the plank road and take pictures by the wetland.

When we were on the boat, some tourists were paddling straw rafts. The boatman said that straw rafts looked fun, but if you didn't control them well, they would drift far away when the wind blew and you wouldn't be able to come back for a long time. And there were no seats or awnings, so the boat was only suitable for lazy people.

Overall, this wetland is quite beautiful, and Hunan TV's program "We Are Coming" was also filmed here.

Because we saw it in February, the meadow is not as beautiful as in spring and summer, but we can imagine how beautiful it must be when the flowers are in full bloom.

The wetland grass is basically withered in winter, but if the weather is good, you can still take some photos.

In February, the grass was basically yellow and there were no flowers. The 80-yuan grass-skiing raft that I played was blown to one side by the wind and I could never go back... After walking for a while and stepping on the grass, it felt like I was sinking into a swamp. It was so scary... You still have to take the boat, and the introduction will be played.

You need to buy tickets here, and the price is not cheap, but this is a place my friends and I want to go, so we have to go even if it costs money!

Here you can row a raft to experience the excitement of floating on the water, or take a small boat to walk along the wetland river, feel the plateau water grassland up close, watch migratory birds fly by, and watch the water plants sway. Mountains, trees, water, boats, and people organically form a perfect whole, peaceful and harmonious. It is best to go to Beihai Wetland at sunrise or sunset, and if possible, go here to watch the sunrise and sunset in the spring when the flowers are blooming.

The scenery is very good, suitable for girls to take pictures, but I personally feel that the scenic area is narrow, and it would be a bit boring if you don't take a boat and play on the meadow. I personally recommend going in the afternoon. The sun doesn't shine until 11 o'clock in the morning in winter🌞, and it should be very beautiful when there is a sunset!

Wetlands are only suitable for spring. To be honest, there are such wetland parks in other cities. If your city does not have one, you can go and have a look.

The grass for grass skiing is an artificially modified floating mat covered with a layer of grass. Due to the increase in the number of tourists in recent years, tourists are very understanding of the protection of natural meadows. The scenery of the wetland is still very beautiful.

Beihai Wetland is not far from Volcano Park. It takes about 30 minutes to drive there. There is a parking lot at the door. Then you can cross the overpass to the other side of the road to the entrance of the wetland. We bought a separate ticket for 55 yuan. In fact, the best time to see the wetland is in summer, when the flowers are in full bloom and the wetland is green. But we came today because the weather was good and there were many white clouds, so it was very nice to take pictures.

There are several wooden plank roads in the wetland for tourists to walk on, so you just need to walk along the plank roads, but the plank roads are not connected, so you have to go back. You can also take a boat tour at the pier for an additional fee. The boat is not big, you can take someone else's boat or rent a small boat to row yourself.

I feel good about this attraction, it is very beautiful and worth visiting. If it is summer, you can't miss it.

The title of my travelogue is the "mixed reviews" of the Beihai Wetland Park. The main reason is probably the ticket price. Generally, tourists who come to Tengchong will first go to "Hot Sea", "Volcano", "Heshun Ancient Town", etc. The ticket for Hot Sea is 60 yuan, and the ticket for Volcano is 40 yuan, which also includes the columnar joints and the Blackfish River. In other words, if you buy a 100 yuan combined ticket, you can enter 4 different attractions: Hot Sea, Volcano, Columnar Joints and Blackfish River.

Then maybe a day or two later I came to Beihai Wetland Park and bought the ticket: the price of 110 did not include the boat ticket!

I had not originally planned to come to Beihai Wetland, as I had seen too many wetlands. However, the two ladies who chartered the car wanted to go directly to Beihai Wetland from Heiyu River, and if I did not follow them, I would not be able to return to Tengchong City.

Come if you want, after all, I have never been there. Seeing the price of the ticket, I think it must be very beautiful inside, so they won’t charge you too much, right? You must take a boat tour to visit the wetland, so you should buy the boat ticket (I forgot the price)

After entering the scenic area, you need to wait for the scenic area battery car. During the waiting process, tourists can watch black swans by the water, or buy some bait at their own expense to feed goldfish in a peculiar way: milk bottles, which is also quite interesting.

We took the electric car not far away, I think it only took a few minutes, and took the tourists to the wetland dock, where we waited for the boat. They said there were wooden boats and electric boats. When I arrived, I only saw wooden boats, and I wondered if it was for the protection of the wetland?

Fortunately, I took a few photos at the pier while the sky was blue and the clouds were white, so it was pretty beautiful. Otherwise, it would have been unbearable to watch if it was cloudy or rainy. After a while, the boat arrived.

Strangely, no staff asked us to wear life jackets this time!

I put on my orange life jacket out of habit. Later I realized, at this speed, why would I need a life jacket?

The boat was moving very slowly, so slowly that it couldn't even keep up with the speed of walking. I half leaned back on the seat, feeling sleepy, and occasionally took a few pictures with my camera. The water plants under the wetland were very dense and messy, and if I fell in and struggled, I would get entangled.

It was such a slow speed that it took only about half an hour to get back to the shore, and then the trip was over...

The place where the boat docked was closer to the main entrance. After getting off the boat, we didn't even need to take the electric car this time, but walked directly to the main entrance of the scenic area. In total, it took our group of three about an hour? Maybe a little more.

So, from my point of view and that of several of us, this Beihai Wetland attraction is not worth it, mainly because of the ticket price. If the price was between 40-60, it would be acceptable, but at 110 (140 with the boat ticket?), it only took about an hour to get out. People who were traveling with me cried out that they were cheated, and they wanted to complain and give bad reviews, etc.

Maybe the wetland has high research and environmental value? That’s why the price of visiting is so high? But tourists go there to enjoy the beautiful scenery, and they don’t understand or buy into the profound geographical and geological knowledge.

I came here in January. As soon as I got off the bus, I found out that the ticket was 110, which was really expensive. I was going to walk around and then go back. But then I met an old man selling wreaths. He said he would take us in to weed and see the wetland. Because the locals couldn’t pronounce clearly, I thought he must have connections, so I followed him. After walking for quite a while, I changed into rain boots and walked a long country road. I found the blocked wetland. It turned out that I couldn’t go in to weed in the small pond. I was a little disappointed at the time. Fortunately, I stepped on the grass mat and entered a corner of the Beihai Wetland. I took some photos, which was also pretty good. I found that the people around here are really rich, and the houses are very beautifully renovated! It’s pretty good.
