Zhongjiang Tower, located in Binjiang Park, stands majestically on the embankment where the Qingyi River and the Yangtze River meet, half leaning against the bustling city and half leaning against the river. In ancient times, people called the section of the Yangtze River from Jiujiang to Jingkou (Zhenjiang) the Zhongjiang River. Construction of the Zhongjiang Pagoda began in 1618 , the 46th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, and continued in 1669, the 8th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty . This pavilion-style brick and wood structure is a Feng Shui pagoda, with five octagonal floors and four windows per floor, staggered and spaced. Each window has a lamp niche to the left and right of it. The first and second floors of the pagoda are built in a folded-in wall style, with winding stone stairways. The third to fifth floors are hollow cylinder-style, with wooden stairways clinging to the wall. The doors, windows, and walls are intricately carved.
