Introducing the Ochre Tower

The Zhe Pagoda, located in the backyard of the Jiuhua Palace in Zheshan Park , was built in 1065 , the second year of the Zhiping reign of the Northern Song Dynasty . The pagoda is a brick and stone structure with five floors and six corners, and brick-carved Buddha statues are embedded in the exterior walls of each floor.

The tower boasts eight sides, eaves that offer water for horses, and brick carvings of Buddha statues embedded on each floor. Its rounded top resembles an upside-down cauldron. Legend has it that a strong wind once blew the top off, causing heavy rain to leak. One day, a large cauldron suddenly flew down and landed on the top, preventing the leaks from continuing. The mountain, temple, and tower, rising in layers, blend seamlessly into one, creating the renowned " Zhe Pagoda in Clear Mist , " one of Wuhu's eight scenic spots .
