Introducing Qishu Lake

Qishu Lake is located 3 kilometers southwest of Hongcun Village and 10 kilometers from the county seat. It takes about half an hour to walk from Xieli Ancient Village to Qishu Lake (downstream of Nanhu Lake).

Qishu Lake, formerly known as the Dongfanghong Reservoir, reaches depths of dozens of meters at its deepest points. Its vibrant scenery, with its shimmering blue waters, resembles a virgin, shrouded in mist and rain. In autumn, large patches of pink flowers gradually sprout along the lake's edge, painting the riverbank a striking shade of rosy pink, a visual feast. During years when the reservoir's water level is low, the exposed riverbed becomes covered in grass and wildflowers, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

Qishu Lake, with its blue skies and white clouds, verdant mountains and waters, lush grass, Metasequoia trees standing in the water, and calves nestling beneath them, offers a refreshing feeling despite the scorching summer heat. A new arts and creative town is being built next to the lake, featuring newly constructed Hui-style architecture.

Climate and best time to travel

The lake has a subtropical monsoon climate, with mist rising from the lake surface and the distant mountains being dark black and vaguely visible. The scenery so close at hand has the feeling of an ink painting. In autumn, flowers bloom by the lake, making it a suitable place for travel.
