Jiangnan First Pass, located in Fuling Town, Jixi County, is a crucial pass on the Huihang Ancient Road. Its gate is constructed of four large horizontal bars across natural rock. The west lintel is inscribed with " Jiangnan First Pass , " and the east is inscribed with " The Key to Huihang Pass, Built in the Second Year of the Tongzhi Reign, Inscribed by Local Resident Shao Daotang , " in regular script.
A massive rock formation stands between the north and south, separated by a ravine and the winding Xiaoyao River. A granite slab approximately two meters long has been embedded into the northern rock face, forming a plank road, with some sections of the stone slab suspended in the air. A hole at the top, reaching the sky, marks the entrance. From the base of the rock to this point, there are over 1,400 steps.
