Jiushan Cave, located in Jiushan National Forest Park, 30 kilometers south of Fengyang City, Anhui Province, is named for the abundant wild leeks growing on the warm mountain. It is a karst cave with a geological history of 500 million years. During the Southern Song Dynasty, Wang Weizhong, a hero who fought against the Jin Dynasty, led 90,000 people to defend the mountain and built a stone fortress on the hill. Remains of the ancient battlefield include the Stone Fortress, the Stone Chicken Pavilion, and the Qili Dazhai. Stone steps lead to the right side of the cave.
Jiushan Cave, with its main east-west cavern stretching 1,472 meters, boasts a side cave connecting to the Bat Cave in Beishan, stretching over 4,000 meters. Hailed by experts as the best cave in Jiangbei, Jiushan Cave is characterized by its depth, size, precariousness, uniqueness, and antiquity. The cave is divided into five scenic areas: "Tigers Crouching and Dragons Coiling," "Picking Stars and Grabbing the Moon," "Deep Canyon," "Clear Stream and Green Shadows," and "Yuxi Boating," offering over 20 scenic spots. "Tigers Crouching and Dragons Coiling" was the primary area where Wang Weizhong stationed his troops for war preparations, while "Picking Stars and Grabbing the Moon" boasts a scenic area where, as the ancients described it, "many rocks are shaped like artifacts." The latter three scenic areas, with their winding twists and turns, are full of mysteries and were previously unexplored. They offer ideal destinations for exploring the past, relaxing, and enjoying a relaxing vacation.
