Introducing Hanshan Park

Hanshan Park boasts lush forests and vegetation, offering winding paths and secluded paths. Its open, wall-less architecture and interconnected pathways allow for unimpeded access. Infrastructure such as pavilions, plank roads, corridors, and streetlights has been restored. Some scenic spots have also been rebuilt, and numerous ecologically scenic trees have been planted. Through development, the park effectively utilizes the natural mountainous terrain and its proximity to mountains and water, creating a beautiful environment for ecological tourism, cultural leisure, and fitness.

Legend has it that Han Yu, one of the Eight Great Masters of the Tang and Song Dynasties, was demoted to the position of Governor of Chaozhou when he passed through this area. He noticed a mountain peak rising amidst the beautiful countryside of Mingguang, lush with trees, its peak looming above. Standing atop the peak, he could take in the panoramic views of mountains, waters, fields, and scenery, a scene that brought a sense of peace and relaxation. The exceptionally beautiful scenery captivated Han Yu, who lingered for a long time, reluctant to leave. Only after repeated urging from his entourage did he reluctantly embark on the ancient post road leading south. Later generations named this mountain "Han Dashan" in his memory of the great writer. After liberation, this place became a place for the execution of death row prisoners, and was later renamed Houshantou.
