Introducing Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall

The Xiamen Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall was built in 1962 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the great national hero Zheng Chenggong's recovery of Taiwan. It is located in the Sunlight Rock Scenic Area of Gulangyu Island.

The memorial hall was opened on February 1, 1962, the 300th anniversary of Zheng Chenggong's recovery of Taiwan. Zheng Chenggong was a renowned national hero of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He recovered Taiwan, which had been occupied by the Dutch for 38 years. The Taiwanese people revere him as the "Saint King of Taiwan."

The memorial hall is the largest collection and research center for Zheng Chenggong's cultural relics and documents, both domestically and internationally. Remains of the village gate and water drill platform still exist. Divided into seven sections, the museum displays over 300 artifacts, materials, photographs, sculptures, and models, systematically presenting Zheng Chenggong's life and deeds. The museum also houses over 400 historical relics related to Zheng Chenggong. Multimedia presentations, using sound, light, and electronic technology, vividly and systematically illustrate Zheng Chenggong's life and deeds, as well as his heroic struggle for national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity.
