
The Overseas Chinese Museum, a historical museum with distinctive ethnic characteristics, is located on the west side of No. 493 Siming South Road, Xiamen, Fujian Province. It covers over 3,000 square meters and, as of March 2017, houses over 7,000 exhibits. Founded by the renowned overseas Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee, the museum was funded by donations from overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese. A plaque inscribed by Mr. Liao Chengzhi graces the newly constructed archway-style entrance. British author Han Suying hailed the museum as "a unique overseas Chinese history museum in the world."
The Overseas Chinese Museum is divided into six sections: "The Origin and Development of Overseas Chinese," "The Tragic Experience of Overseas Chinese Before Liberation," "Friendship between Overseas Chinese and the People of Their Host Countries," "Contributions of Overseas Chinese to the Motherland," "The Past and Present of Overseas Chinese Society," and "A Review of Overseas Chinese Policies." As of March 2017, the museum's exhibition area of 2,400 square meters showcased over 1,200 documents and photographs, over 2,000 precious cultural relics, and over 1,000 specimens of rare birds, animals, and aquatic products.

Overseas Chinese Cultural Relics Exhibition
This exhibition is based on the museum's collection of overseas Chinese history relics and new research results. With the help of new display methods, it vividly and systematically reviews the footprints of overseas Chinese who have gone abroad and into the world; reproduces their living conditions and outstanding performance in the country of residence; and introduces the process of their transformation from expatriates to citizen identity.
Exhibition of Cultural Relics from the Tan Kah Kee Collection
The exhibition displays some bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy and paintings selected from the cultural relics collected by Mr. Tan Kah Kee in Beijing and other places in his old age, allowing the audience to understand the profound, long-standing and splendid Chinese history and culture by appreciating the bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy and paintings.
Nature Museum
The exhibit features a simulated natural environment, with over 150 natural specimens of birds, animals, and other animals scattered in an environment suitable for their survival. The exhibit showcases animal diversity, promotes scientific knowledge, and calls for greater awareness of wildlife and environmental protection.
Cultural Relics Overview
As of March 2017, the museum has a collection of nearly 7,000 cultural relics, including bronzes and ceramics from various dynasties, ancient coins, ancient calligraphy and paintings, ancient sculptures and crafts, foreign ceramics and glassware, as well as a number of precious overseas Chinese history relics and bird, animal, fish and mineral specimens, including many national first-class cultural relics.
