The International Calligraphy Art Museum, located across from Shuzhuang Garden, is currently the only large-scale, high-end international calligraphy art exhibition center in the world. The newly opened Gulangyu International Calligraphy Art Museum is housed in a small, sea-view building covering approximately 500 square meters across from Shuzhuang Garden. The first floor is designated as the International Exhibition Hall, and the second floor is the China Exhibition Hall.

The museum houses a collection of 407 works from China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia. Most of these works were selected for the 5th National Calligraphy Art Exhibition and the 8th International Calligraphy Art Exhibition in 2004, representing the highest standards of calligraphy both domestically and internationally. Modern calligraphy art, integrating calligraphy, engraving, painting, color, sculpture, and decoration, possesses a distinct contemporary flavor and unique artistic charm, and is increasingly appreciated and favored by the public.
