
Jukou Street, also known as Women's Street, earned its name from the exit of the Xiamen Garrison during the Qing Dynasty. It is the most famous of the several branches of Zhongshan Road. The street is short, approximately 200 meters, and the alleys are narrow, less than 2 meters wide, yet it boasts 423 years of history. Fifty or sixty shops specializing in fashionable women's clothing attract Xiamen's many women of all ages. This small street, filled with both ancient and fashionable stories, offers a happy life to the women who run shops and shop here.
Beyond that, there's a wide variety of snacks and delicacies to satisfy your sense of smell and taste buds. Lian Huan Oyster Omelette is a household name; right next to it is Jukou Street Noodles, relocated from the alleyway next to Xin Nan Xuan. It's a simple, bare-bones place, set up on the side of the road with just a few low stools, yet it's packed daily, with many people making the trek to Jukou Street just to try the delicious Jukou Noodles.
