The Gulangyu Concert Hall was completed and put into use in February 1987. Over the past decade, it has hosted performances by art troupes from Japan, the United States, Romania, the Philippines, Singapore, Russia, Croatia, and other countries, as well as the Hong Kong Orchestra, the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra, the Caotian Choir, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Changchun Film Orchestra, and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra.


The main building of the concert hall is nestled beneath ancient camphor and banyan trees, hosting chamber and classical music concerts throughout the year. The main structure includes a lobby, performance hall (stage, auditorium), VIP rooms, dressing rooms, piano room, and sound and lighting control room. Ancillary facilities include a piano room, central air conditioning room, and power distribution room. The performance hall, clad primarily in wood, accommodates 571 people and features natural acoustics.
