Lu Xun taught at Xiamen University from September 1926 to January 1927, residing in Jimei Building during his time there. In 1952, Jimei Building was designated as the Lu Xun Memorial Room, later merged with the Lu Xun Cultural Relics Exhibition Room to form the Xiamen University Lu Xun Memorial Hall, a subsidiary of the College of Humanities. As the only Lu Xun Memorial Hall located at a university nationwide, the Xiamen University Lu Xun Memorial Hall, despite its relatively small size, has consistently maintained its distinctive style and unique characteristics over the past 50 years, generating significant social impact.

The memorial hall currently features five exhibition rooms. The first room briefly reviews Lu Xun's life and ideological development; the second room displays historical relics from his time in Xiamen; and the third room houses a special exhibition titled "Lu Xun and Xu Guangping." Rooms two and three are the centerpieces of the entire museum, setting it apart from other museums nationwide. The fourth room, designated as a memorial room, displays the museum's most treasured possession: five elegiac couplets and banners used in Xiamen's cultural community for memorial services following Lu Xun's death in 1936. The fifth room houses Lu Xun's former residence, furnished to resemble its original appearance when he lived there.
