Introducing Xinjietang

Xinjie Church, located at 29 Taiguang Street in the heart of the old city of Siming District, Xiamen, Fujian Province, is the first Christian church in mainland China to be used for Chinese worship and is known as "China's First Holy Church." It remains an important gathering place for Christians in Xiamen's old city and is a provincial-level cultural relic protection site.

The Romanesque-style building features a red sloping roof and a hexagonal bell tower, housing an American-made bronze bell purchased in 1848. The main facade features a spacious front porch with six 6.5-meter-high white Romanesque columns. Stone plaques inscribed with "China's First Holy Church" and "Jehovah's Station" from the National Council of the Church of Christ in China remain on the wall. The lower exterior walls are constructed of granite, while the upper sections are red brick. The interior is paved.
