Introducing Jinming Temple

Xiamen Jinming Temple is located at No. 4, Huangcuo Xitouxia, Siming District, next to the scenic coastal resort area - Ring Island Road. It is a Buddhist holy place on the Ring Island Road in Xiamen, facing Kinmen across the sea, and has a great geographical advantage.

The temple was first built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1908). Originally a missionary for the non-Buddhist Xiantian sect, it later embraced Buddhism. The first abbot was Yang Zhangyugu. In 1920, wealthy businessman Jiang Yide donated funds for its reconstruction, but the temple was soon devastated by a fire, leaving only a plaque inscribed "Divine Inspiration" and several window frames. Yang Zhangyugu passed away in 1923, and was succeeded by his disciples Xiao Mubi and Su Donglai. During the Anti-Japanese War, the temple was nearly destroyed by bombardment. The third abbot, Chen Aitonggu, tirelessly protected the temple, finally bringing it back to life. In 1992, Aitonggu invited Master Puduan of the Minnan Buddhist College to serve as the abbot of Jinming Temple. Master Puduan's efforts to eliminate the old and promote the Dharma attracted a large number of devotees, creating a scene of revival.
