Located on Jiageng Road in Jimei Town, Xiamen, Guilai Garden is directly in front of Guilai Hall, with the two connected. The garden was built in 1983 by the Fujian Provincial and Xiamen Municipal People's Governments to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Jimei School by Tan Kah Kee .
A 2.3- meter-tall, 750- kilogram bronze statue of Tan Kah Kee stands in the center of the garden. Behind the statue is a white granite screen inscribed with the golden characters " Banner of Overseas Chinese, Glory of the Nation , " a tribute to Chairman Mao Zedong's life.
