
The Xiamen Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, located at the foot of the Wanshi Botanical Garden, features a 24- meter -tall monument inscribed with the eight golden characters written by Marshal Chen Yi : " The heroic spirit of the martyrs forever reigns supreme on the sea frontier . " The cemetery and monument were completed simultaneously. Within the cemetery lies a circular mausoleum, surrounded by three tiers of pine and cypress trees. The remains and ashes of 1,061 martyrs are interred within.
