Xiamen University of Technology (XUT) is a full-time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a key university in Fujian Province and a master's degree-granting institution. As of September 2018, the university has three campuses: Xiamen University of Science and Technology, Siming University, and Jimei University. The campus covers 1,927 mu (approximately 1,000 acres), with a building area of ​​over 500,000 square meters and teaching and research equipment valued at 520 million yuan. The university has 20,081 full-time students (including 401 graduate students and 137 international students) and a full-time faculty of 1,116. The university offers 58 undergraduate programs across 19 schools and departments.

The school, formerly known as Lujiang Vocational University, was founded in 1981. It began enrolling students based on the eight existing college programs in agriculture, finance and trade, aquaculture, industry, foreign languages, health, architecture, and geography. Lujiang Vocational University emphasizes its "local, vocational, and adaptable" approach, focusing on cultivating applied technical personnel with strong practical skills who can adapt to the needs of the front lines of production. In 2004, Xiamen Industrial School, the affiliated technical secondary school of Lujiang Vocational University, was merged into Jimei University. In August, with approval from the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to a university-level program and renamed "Xiamen Institute of Technology."
