Introducing Nanxun Building

Located in Jimei District, Xiamen, the Nanxun Building, consisting of a main building and two annexes, forms a Y-shape, standing on a commanding height on the west bank of the Yuxun River. Completed in June 1957, the building's name is derived from a poem about the south wind from the time of Emperor Yu Shun: "The fragrance of the south wind can soothe my family's sorrow," reflecting Tan Kah Kee's lifelong commitment to promoting education and educating future generations. Among the historical buildings in Jimei University Village, Nanxun Building is the most representative, both in terms of architectural style and facade decoration. The inscription "Jimei" on the top of the tower, in particular, has made the building a symbol of Jimei and even Xiamen.

The main building is a 15-story Western-style structure with a Chinese-style pavilion roof. The flanking annexes resemble wings spread wide, soaring into the sky. Constructed entirely of fine-grained granite with green tiles and eaves, Nanxun Building is a landmark in Jimei, both in its architectural style and its facade decoration.
