Huoshao Island, the largest island in Xiamen's western waters, boasts a 27-hectare water and land area, 900 meters from north to south, 400 meters from east to west, and an elevation of 34.7 meters. Its three headlands descend gradually from its southern peak to the north. Looking west, it resembles the Chinese character "山" (mountain) in official script, while from west to east, it resembles the English letter "M." With its winding coastline and steep slopes, unique geological structures, vibrant rock formations, diverse sea caves, and diverse beaches and bays, Huoshao Island is a beautiful subtropical island.
Huoshao Islet lies beneath the Haicang Bridge, with the bridge's west tower standing at the northern end of the islet, controlling the center of the West Sea. To the south are Rabbit Islet, Monkey Islet, Dayu Islet, and Gulangyu Islet, while to the north are Jingtai Islet, Cat Islet, and Baozhu Islet.
The winding forest paths on the islands of the Shanlin Yiqing area form a lakeside trail and a tree-lined path around the island. Strolling along, you can enjoy the sea view, relax and cultivate your mind, and enjoy the tranquility. There is a viewing pavilion on the clifftop, a sea-viewing corridor on the cliffside, and a "dolphin-watching platform" at the clifftop for watching rare marine species and national treasure white dolphins. Sitting under the black pine trees, you can quietly watch the white dolphins rolling and breathing in the blue waves, and your heart will be swept away by the white dolphins.
It has a subtropical monsoon climate and there is an observation tower on the top of the mountain. Visitors can climb the tower to see the sea, the mountains, the city, Haicang, Jimei, Xinglin, Huli, Xingang, the bridge, and the islands and reefs. It is suitable for summer travel to enjoy the sea breeze and the scenery.
There are four artificial lakes on Huoshao Island in the Four Lakes Yinyue District, two large and two small, three freshwater lakes and one seawater lake, totaling more than 60,000 square meters.
There is a small bamboo house in Jingyue Lake where visitors can stay for a while, catch fish and crabs, and have a barbecue and picnic.
Luqi Lake covers an area of more than 30,000 square meters. The Luqi Island in the lake is crystal clear and charming. Swimming in the lake is full of fun.

Guided tours are available in both Mandarin and English. Audio guides are also offered in multiple languages, including Mandarin and English, to enhance the visitor experience.
The best photography spots are from the top of the island’s trails, where you can capture panoramic views of the ocean and forest. The shoreline also offers great opportunities for beach photography, especially at sunrise or sunset.
Start your visit with a short boat ride around the island. Then, explore the main ecological trails, stopping at the observation points. End the visit by relaxing at the beach or participating in one of the educational programs.
Night visits are not available. However, special eco-tourism programs and seasonal events may be organized, such as educational workshops and conservation tours. It is advisable to check for special events before visiting.

While cash is accepted, mobile payments (WeChat Pay, Alipay) are widely used on the island, especially for purchases at the shops or ticket counters. Credit cards are less commonly accepted.
Vegetarian and vegan options are available at some local restaurants in Xiamen. However, the island itself has limited food options, so it's better to plan ahead if you have dietary restrictions.
There are small souvenir shops on the island selling eco-friendly products, such as handmade crafts, postcards, and local snacks. In Xiamen, you can also find specialty teas and Fujianese porcelain as souvenirs.
