The Drum Sound Cave is located in the southwest corner of Gulangyu Island. You need to cross Gangzaihou Beach to get there. There are Gulang Rock and Tingtao Cliff in this area. Not far below Tingtao Cliff is our Drum Sound Cave. The Drum Sound Cave is a weathered cave formed by the impact of waves over thousands of years. It is said that whenever the tide comes, the wind is strong and the waves are huge, and the huge waves hit the cave and make a loud noise, just like the rumbling sound of drums, which is why Gulangyu Island got its name.
This is a weathered rock cave, carved by waves over thousands of years. During high tides, strong winds and high waves create a resounding crash against the rock, hence the name "Gulang." The reef stretches approximately 20 meters. The cave is about 3 meters high and over 1 meter wide.
On the roof of the cave stands an acacia tree, over one meter tall and as thick as a bowl. It is known as the "antique tree," having stubbornly taken root in the cracks of the weathered rock, adding vitality to Gulang Cave.
