The Fuzhou Bao'en Pagoda is located within the Xichan Temple in Fuzhou. In 1983 , Master Bao Tanchan , appointed by Xichan Temple as the successor abbot of Shuanglin Temple, named the pagoda " Bao'en Pagoda " to express gratitude for the temple's nurturing efforts . The pagoda is an octagonal pavilion, 67 meters tall, and has 15 stories. Built in 1986 , it is the youngest Buddhist pagoda in the area.
The Bao'en Pagoda is made of reinforced concrete and covered with elegant granite. Each layer of the pagoda is inlaid with Buddha statues or Buddhist stories carefully carved by famous Hui'an stonemasons, and decorated with birds, beasts, flowers, plants, insects and fish. The images are lifelike and vivid. It is not only a majestic stone pagoda, but also an intriguing work of art.
