Introducing Honglin House

Honglin House, commonly known as Xinhuli, is located in Xinhu Village, Bandong Town, Minqing County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. Construction took 28 years, and dates back over 200 years. The house, facing west and east, is a two-and-a-half-story structure of earth and wood, with three consecutive courtyards. Its rectangular floor plan covers over 17,000 square meters and boasts 35 halls and 666 rooms. Its layout is characterized by a "one vertical and one horizontal" structure. The "one vertical" refers to the main house, which is situated on a central axis. The "one horizontal" refers to the lateral and outer lateral houses, which are located to the left and right of this axis, creating a symmetrical and flowing atmosphere. This creates a sense of depth and continuity within the courtyard.
