Chengmen Town is located in the eastern section of Nantai Island, Cangshan District, Fuzhou City. Chengmen Town has a long history and has produced many talents. In ancient times, there were many famous people and poets, including the famous monk Xie Shibei in the Tang Dynasty, former Minister of Aerospace Lin Zongtang ( Chengmen Village ) , biologist Dr. Lin Chuangguang, and physical chemist Academician Liang Jingkui.
Famous historical sites and cultural relics include the Thousand Buddha Pottery Pagoda of Longrui Temple in the Tang Dynasty in Liangcuo Village ( moved to Yongquan Temple in Gushan in 1972 ) and the stone carvings on the base of the main hall in the Tang Dynasty; the Taishan Temple where Zhao Bing, the last emperor of the Song Dynasty, once stayed in Linpu Village; Yudao Street, Song Well, Wen Tianxiang Temple; the cliff inscriptions and statues on Shitou Mountain; the Song Dynasty stone bridges in Linpu Village, Lulei Village and Lianban Village; and the Shangshu Li and Jinshi Fang in Linpu Village in the Ming Dynasty.
