Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, the ancestors of Zhixi have built 74 ancient ancestral halls and 139 ancient dwellings. These grand Ming and Qing architecture are known as " Hakka Grand Mansions . They are generally built using the " nine halls and eighteen wells " structural layout of the Hakka area. Zhixi's folk culture is also unique. During the first month of the lunar calendar, there are lantern parades, red dragons wrapped around pillars, spring oxen plowing, ten-part music, ancient stories, and Han opera performances. The Zhixi lanterns are particularly noteworthy.
