Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences
The Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also known as the Menglun Botanical Garden, is China's largest botanical garden, boasting the richest collection of species and the most specialized botanical gardens. The garden is divided into two sections: the East and West. The West section, comprised of several smaller botanical gardens, is the main attraction. The East section comprises a narrow stretch of tropical rainforest, ideal for hiking. The West section boasts over twenty specialized botanical gardens, most notably the "Exotic Flower Garden," featuring flowers that change color and clock flowers that bloom on a regular basis.
Wangtianshu Scenic Area
The Parashorea chinensis scenic area is the heart of the Xishuangbanna tropical rainforest and the only place in China where you can fully experience the rainforest from land, water, and air. The scenic area's most attractive attraction, the Skywalk, features a 34-meter-high suspension bridge constructed from the trunks of dozens of Parashorea chinensis trees, offering a bird's-eye view of the entire rainforest. Visitors can also get up close and personal with the five wonders of the rainforest: buttress roots, stranglers, parasitic epiphytes, dripping leaf tips, and old stems full of spring.
Xishuangbanna Dai Garden
The Xishuangbanna Dai National Park comprises five of the best-preserved Dai villages: Manjiang, Manchunman, Manting, Manzha, and Manga. Here, the warm Dai people perform welcoming dances, sing congratulatory speeches, and sprinkle water for blessings. The park also houses the Manchunman Ancient Buddhist Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Xishuangbanna, boasting over 1,400 years of history. Chanting can be heard daily within the temple. The most important festival for the Dai people in Xishuangbanna is the Water Splashing Festival, and the lively atmosphere of this festival can be experienced daily at the Dai National Park's Water Splashing Square.
