Donglin Academy, also known as Guishan Academy, is located at 867 Jiefang East Road in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. It is one of the most famous academies in ancient my country. It was designated a provincial-level cultural relic protection site by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Committee in October 1956 and was included in the sixth batch of national key cultural relic protection sites in June 2006.
Donglin Academy was founded in the first year of Zhenghe Period in the Northern Song Dynasty, which was 1111 AD. It was the place where Yang Shi, a famous scholar and direct disciple of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi, a Neo-Confucian philosopher of the Northern Song Dynasty, gave lectures for a long time.
In the 32nd year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, that is, in 1604 AD, Donglin scholar Gu Xiancheng and others rebuilt and restored the temple and gathered people to give lectures here. They advocated the spirit of "reading, teaching, and patriotism", which aroused widespread response from scholars across the country and made it famous for a while.
Donglin Academy became a gathering place for the rich cultural heritage of Jiangnan and a major center for discussion of state affairs. It was later abandoned. A comprehensive restoration was carried out in 2002, revealing buildings such as the stone memorial archway, Pan Pond, Donglin Jingshe, Lize Hall, Yiyong Hall, Yanju Temple, and Daonan Shrine.

The Academy has a maximum daily capacity of 5,000 visitors and an instantaneous capacity of 1,000. When the number of visitors approaches the instantaneous peak, staff will implement a staggered approach to control the number of people entering the Academy to ensure orderly visitor flow. Please cooperate with us. When the maximum daily capacity is reached, the Academy will temporarily close.
