Shibianyu is located in Wutai Street, Chang'an District, Xi'an City. In ancient times, it was named Shibie Valley because there was a huge turtle-like rock at the entrance of the valley. It was also called Shibi Valley and Shibieyu, and later it was renamed to its current name.
The villages that have been clearly recorded in history during the Tang Dynasty and before include Luohanping (including Dabancha), Longwo (belonging to Laolongqiao), Xionggou, Liaoyugou, Liaoyukou, Qinggou, and Dapiaogou (including Tianchi, Shalingzi, Shalingzigou, Toudaogou, and Erdaogou).
According to the Xianning County Annals, during the Jiaqing period (1796-1820), there were 12 valleys in Shibieyu, Xianning County, namely Qinggou, Xionggou, Liaogou, Guanyingou, Dapiaogou, Shaling, Meichangbian, Beichiling, Xiaopiaogou, Beijijing, Tielugou and Xiannvcha.
It is now under the jurisdiction of Wutai Street, Chang'an District, and includes seven villages: Guanmiao, Dapiao, Sicha, Qingcha, Xiaomapao, Laolongqiao, and Luohanping.

Guanmiao Village, also known as Guandi Temple Village, is located in Shibianyu. It was originally under the jurisdiction of Shibianyu Township. Later, Shibianyu Township was abolished. It is now under the jurisdiction of Wutai Street. It was once the seat of Shibianyu Township Government.
It was originally composed of the natural villages of Qinggou, Xionggou, Liaoyukou, Liniangsi, Lujiatan, Nanjiuzigou (Nanjiugou), Daogouyu, and Shapingdi. Now there are only four natural villages left: Qinggou, Xionggou, Liaoyukou, and Liniangsi.
Dapiao Village
Located in the Shibianyu Mountain area of Wutai Subdistrict, southeast of Guanmiao Village, about five miles above the Shibianyu Reservoir, it faces South Wutai and Cuihua Mountain. It consists of several natural villages: Dapiaogou, Shalingzi, Tianchi, Shalingzigou, Toudaogou, and Erdaogou, with five villager groups and a population of over 120.
