Yunlong Park comprises six scenic areas: the Bonsai Garden, Zhichun Island, the Lotus Hall Waterside Pavilion, the Rockery Corridor, the Flower Garden, and the Playground. The park is centered around a body of water, with pavilions and towers each offering their own unique charm. The Zhichun Island scenic area is named for its abundance of early spring flowers and trees, including forsythia and spring plum.
The scenic area's main building, Swallow Tower, is one of the five famous towers in ancient Xuzhou. Legend has it that it was the residence of Guan Panpan, a famous courtesan of the Tang Dynasty, where a poignant and undying love story unfolded. Bai Juyi once wrote, "In Swallow Tower, on a frosty night, autumn grows for only one person." Literati throughout the ages, including Su Shi, Wen Tianxiang, Chen Shidao, and Yan Ermei, have dedicated their works to Swallow Tower. Dramas and novels from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties also feature numerous depictions of Guan Panpan's solitary residence in Swallow Tower. The Bonsai Garden, also known as the "Yi Lin," is a specialized bonsai garden.
Over 3,000 bonsai pieces with strong local characteristics are on display in the park. The Lotus Hall Waterside Pavilion area comprises a teahouse pavilion, a long corridor, and a platform. From the pavilion, overlooking the shimmering lake, the lush greenery of Yunlong Mountain creates a captivating spectacle. The Rockery and Flower Corridor, situated on the peninsula of South Lake, comprises a large rockery, a flower corridor, and flower beds. The southern part of the park features flower gardens with over 100 species of plants, including dragon cypress, garden cypress, metasequoia, wisteria, sisal, and roses. The northern part of the park features a recreational area featuring a variety of rides, including land, sea, and air game machines, bumper cars, and a "Dongtian Fudi" (a sacred place for the heavens and blessed land), as well as lakeside attractions. In the northeast corner of the area lies a mound, covered in lush pines and cypresses, evoking an ancient atmosphere. Legend has it that it is the tomb of the mother of a Western Han Dynasty king.
With a warm temperate humid climate, Yunlong Park is an urban park that integrates historical allusions, Jiangnan gardens, and leisure and entertainment, making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
