The 11th China (Zhengzhou) International Garden Expo opened on September 29, 2017 in Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone. It consists of three parks: Garden Expo Park, Shuanghe Lake Central Park, and Yuanling Ancient City Ruins Park. All are located in the southern part of the Airport Economic Zone and were planned, constructed, and opened simultaneously.
The Zhengzhou Garden Expo Park is primarily focused on landscape gardens. Located north of Yuanling Road and east of Binhe East Road in the Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone, it covers an area of 1,785 mu (approximately 1,785 mu). Key features include the Xuanyuan Pavilion, Huaxia Pavilion, Children's Pavilion, Tongxin Lake, Huashengxuan, and Yu Garden, all embodying the rich traditional culture of the Central Plains. The park also attracted 92 cities (3 from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, 71 from China, and 18 from abroad) and two international designers to design and construct outdoor gardens, showcasing the culmination of both ancient and modern domestic and international garden art. The domestic gardens highlight imperial gardens, exemplified by Beijing, private gardens in Suzhou, and Lingnan gardens, exemplified by Guangzhou and Xiamen. The international gardens bring together 18 cities in 15 countries across five continents: Europe, North America, Oceania, Asia, and Africa, showcasing representative garden art and culture from around the world. The 94 gardens exhibit unique and diverse garden styles.
The temperate monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
