Introducing Fengqi Mountain

Fengqi Mountain, located west of Tianzi Mountain, gets its name from the rock shape that resembles a phoenix head. Other attractions along the route include Qu Yuan's Poems, Imperial Writing Rock, and the Solitary Pillar and Umbrella.

The western part of the Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve is larger, but its scenic spots are scattered. Fengqi Mountain, formerly known as Fengqi Mountain, boasts a courtyard built by Xiang Wang, a Tujia rebel leader, midway up the mountain. Known as the Xiang Family Courtyard, only ruins remain today. Opposite the mountain rises another peak, towering and steep, with views stretching for dozens of miles. Legend has it that Xiang Wang once set up a sentry post there to observe enemy activity, hence the name Haozi Mountain, also known as Haozi Valley. Other scenic spots within the area include Qu Zi Xing Yin (Wandering Poems of Qu Yuan), Tianzi Well, Charlie Chaplin's Rock, and Lonely Girl with an Umbrella.

The mountain is named after a rock resembling a phoenix head. The rock is dark brown, covered in green trees and bamboo. A sharp rock protrudes from its summit, resembling a phoenix's beak. The lush vegetation resembles an emerald screen, its form marvelous and graceful, poised to take flight. Fengqi Mountain is home to numerous caves, dense forests, and picturesque peaks, imbued with a pristine, wild charm. Located west of Tianzi Mountain, Fengqi Mountain slopes westward, offering direct access to the Golden Whip Stream, which winds around four gates.

At the eastern end of the scenic area, the Tianzi Well is a fist-sized fountain that sometimes shoots up over a meter high. Its water is refreshingly cool in the summer and reaches a temperature of 20°C in the winter, making it ideal for bathing. Legend has it that this water can cure illnesses, and drinking it year-round can prolong life.
