
Gannan Normal University (Gannan Normal University), located in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, a nationally renowned historical and cultural city, is a provincial-level undergraduate normal university with the authority to confer master's and bachelor's degrees. It is a first-class university designated as a "distinctive and distinctive discipline construction university" in Jiangxi Province. The Ministry of Education's Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation Expert Panel has recognized the university as "an outstanding regional normal university with distinctive characteristics and promising prospects."
The university was founded in June 1958 as Gannan Normal College. In 1959, it was renamed Gannan Normal College and began enrolling undergraduate students. In 1964, it was restored to Gannan Normal College. Since then, the university's name has changed several times. In 1984, it was restored to Gannan Normal College and upgraded to a provincial undergraduate normal college. In 2003, it became a master's degree-granting institution. In March 2016, with approval from the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Gannan Normal University.
As of April 2019, the university has three campuses: Huangjin Campus, Zhanggong Campus, and Baita Campus (University Science and Technology Park), covering an area of more than 2,200 acres, with a building area of more than 800,000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of more than 259 million yuan, and a library collection of more than 2.2 million books.
The university comprises 15 teaching colleges, one independent college, one affiliated middle school, and one affiliated primary school. It boasts one postdoctoral research workstation, one postdoctoral innovation and practice base, 72 undergraduate programs (including four provincial first-class programs), 16 first-level master's programs (including 84 second-level master's programs), and nine master's degree programs. The university has over 1,000 full-time faculty members (including over 480 senior professionals and over 300 doctoral students) and over 20,000 full-time students (including over 1,300 graduate students).
