
Built in the Eastern Han Dynasty, the temple serves as a Taoist shrine for worshipping deities. It is one of the architectural complexes formed in ancient China based on the principles of venerating heaven and worshipping ancestors. These temples, varying in size and hierarchy, are found throughout China. Longhushan currently comprises seven major scenic areas and one peripheral independent attraction. The Xianshuiyan Scenic Area, Zhengyi Guan Scenic Area, Shangqing Palace Scenic Area, Mazuyan Scenic Area, Yingtianshan Scenic Area, Tianmenshan Scenic Area, and Shengjingshan Scenic Area constitute the main scenic area, while Guigu Cave is a peripheral independent attraction. The entire area boasts 52 scenic spots and 230 landscape features, including 99 peaks, 24 crags, and over 200 cliff tombs.
Yingtan City has a subtropical humid monsoon mild climate with abundant rainfall, sufficient sunlight, a long frost-free period and four distinct seasons.

Shangqing Palace, built during the Jin Dynasty, is one of the oldest Taoist temples on Longhu Mountain. It honors Taoist master Zhang Daoling and is central to the Shangqing sect, a major Taoist school. It remains a key pilgrimage site in Yingtan.
Located in Shangqing Town, Longhu Mountain Scenic Area, Yingtan City. You can reach it by taxi or shuttle bus from downtown Yingtan or Longhu Mountain Visitor Center.
