Longhu Mountain is located 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province. During the middle of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling, the founder of the Zhengyi Dao, once refined elixir here. Legend has it that "when the elixir was completed, dragons and tigers appeared," hence the mountain's name. Tianmen Mountain is the highest, at 1,300 meters. Longhu Mountain is China's eighth World Natural Heritage Site, a World Geopark, a National Natural and Cultural Heritage Site, a National AAAAA-level Tourist Attraction, and a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit. Longhu Mountain is a typical example of China's Danxia landform, the birthplace of Taoism in China, and was added to the World Geopark Network in 2007. The Danxia landforms of Longhu Mountain are two Danxia mountain formations composed of massive red sandstone and conglomerate rocks from the Late Cretaceous terrestrial foothills, alluvial fans, and floodplains, located on the southern edge of the central Xinjiang Basin in southeastern China.
