Baizhang Waterfall Scenic Area is located in Wencheng County, 4 kilometers away from Wencheng County and 115 kilometers away from Wenzhou City. It covers an area of 170 square kilometers and is divided into five major scenic areas: Baizhang Waterfall, Tiandingxiu Lake, Liu Ji's Hometown, Canyon Scenic Corridor and Zhuyang Nine Peaks. It consists of nearly 200 major attractions such as Yizhe Waterfall, Xitianping, Liu Ji Temple, Tianding Lake, and Elephant Peak.
The subtropical monsoon climate is suitable for all seasons, with spring and autumn being the best.
The scenic area boasts over 100 scenic spots, characterized by its unique waterfalls, numerous pools, bizarre caves, and picturesque lakes. Forest coverage within the area is 75%, with 475 woody plant species, including the fragrant fruit tree, long-leaved Torreya grandis, and multi-veined ironwood, which are nationally protected rare species. Tianding Lake, covering an area of 5.4 square kilometers, is located in a bend on a mountaintop platform at an altitude of 630 meters. In winter and spring, flocks of egrets and wild ducks often swim by. The scenic area offers no extreme summer heat, with average temperatures in July ranging from 21°C to 25°C, making it an ideal summer escape. It is also the hometown of Liu Ji (1311-1375), a founding hero of the Ming Dynasty, and boasts a temple, tomb, and former residence.
Baizhang Waterfall sits over 300 meters above sea level, connecting a secluded canyon below and the blue sky and white clouds above. Looking up, the waterfall resembles a dragon rolling through the sea clouds; looking down, it resembles a thousand horses neighing in the wind as they descend into a snowy city. It symbolizes grandeur, a majesty embodied by towering cliffs on three sides, jagged and razor-sharp, with a deep ravine in the center. A 207-meter-high waterfall cascades down like clouds, a silken thread suspended in the air, resembling the Milky Way cascading to the earth. Water droplets splash, a roar like thunder, and a cloud of mist. Surrounding mountains and peaks rise from the ground, reaching the heavens. Some resemble stone towers, others soaring eagles, some like sails on the water, and some like Guanyin delivering a child to the Gate of Heaven. Beneath them, towering pine forests and dense shrubs blanket the ground. Set against the backdrop of winding paths, steep cliffs, and flowing water, the waterfall resembles a magnificent natural painting.
The Second Falls is 85 meters high and divided into two bends, the upper and lower falls. A rock corridor, 2.7 meters high, 8 meters deep, and over 50 meters long, winds around the dark cliffs like a belt. From the corridor, you can admire the waterfall, which flows like a curtain, reminiscent of the Water Curtain Cave in the Flower and Fruit Mountains.
Longjing
To the west of the rock corridor lies a spacious stone terrace, with a "Dragon Well" in its center. The waterfall on the east side is truly breathtaking. The "Nantian Mountain Records" states: "The waterfall splashes with a thunderous roar. There is a stone chamber nearby, so it is said that Lü Dongbin once refined elixirs here."
