Historically known as China's "First Mountain in Southeast China," Yandang Mountain lies primarily on the northeastern coast of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with a smaller portion located south of Wenling County, Taizhou City. Famous for its unique peaks and waterfalls, Yandang's scenery is known for its breathtaking daytime views and captivating nighttime scenery.
The night view of Lingfeng Peak is the spiritual home of Yandang Mountain. The Lingyan Ferry is renowned, and there's also the majestic Yanhugang and Longqiubei Mountains; the perilous Yundong Plank Road; and the picturesque scenery of Xianxi and Qingjiang Rivers. Climbing to Baigang Peak, overlooking hundreds of hills below, and experiencing the expansive feeling of "climbing to the summit, I am the peak," and admiring the vast expanse of the seaside and Yueqing Bay, where "the sea reaches its limit and the sky becomes the shore," are all part of Yandang's endless enjoyment.
Spring, summer, and autumn are the best seasons to visit Yandang Mountain. The best time to see the waterfalls is during the abundant rainfall, especially in May and June, or August and September, after the rains around the 15th day of the lunar calendar. Choose a clear day after rain to witness the 200-meter drop of Dalongqiu, resembling a giant dragon descending from the sky. The majestic spectacle is especially striking after heavy rain.
