Introducing Lingyuanqing

Lingyuanqing, also known as Guanyinqing, is located at the western foot of Hushan Mountain in the eastern suburbs of Yongsheng County, Lijiang, 3 kilometers northeast of the county seat. Covering approximately 100 hectares, it is a scenic spot in western Yunnan. Its tranquil environment and beautiful scenery are particularly renowned for the Song Dynasty rock-carved Guanyin statue, which has been designated a key cultural relic protection site at the provincial level in Yunnan.

The scenic area's main hall, Guanyin Pavilion, was originally built during the Tang Dynasty and has undergone renovations throughout the ages. The existing structure was rebuilt on the original site in 1876, the second year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign. It sits atop a precipitous cliff and overlooks the Lingyuan River. The interior of the Guanyin Pavilion features exquisitely carved wooden screens, while the exterior railings and corridors are inlaid with marble, each meticulously carved and magnificent. The Guanyin statue carved into the stone wall within the hall measures 178 cm tall and 75 cm wide. The inscription "Brushwork of Wu Daozi of the Tang Dynasty" is inscribed alongside. The meticulous carving exudes a dignified expression and creates a strong sense of three-dimensionality. Lingyuan Qing is nestled between two peaks, divided by a river, with steep cliffs and lush bamboo forests. Below lies the sacred Lingyuan site, while above, soaring pavilions, deep forests, clear springs, ancient Buddhist temples, and the inscriptions and stone carvings of past generations create this refreshing and otherworldly paradise.

The entire Lingyuanqing scenic area is shaded by dense trees, with temples, pavilions, corridors, and rainbow bridges dotted along the riverbanks. The Lingyuanqing Guanyin Pavilion is the only remaining Buddhist temple in Yongsheng City, and has been a popular attraction since ancient times.
