Niujiaozhai Scenic Area is located 29 kilometers west of Yuanyang County and 22 kilometers from Xinjie Town. It is located at the foot of Yuanyang West Guanyin Mountain and has convenient transportation. The Yuanlu Secondary Highway and the third-level connecting lines run through the terraces. There is no flat land in the area, all of which is mountainous. The altitude varies greatly, with the highest altitude being 2,682 meters and the lowest altitude being 800 meters. It has a subtropical monsoon climate with a particularly obvious three-dimensional temperature.
Because Niujiaozhai is near Laohuzui, the red terraced fields are also the main feature here. The terraced fields in Niujiaozhai are relatively small, but still beautiful to watch, but due to the terrain, the openness is slightly less.
The subtropical monsoon climate has a relatively uniform seasonal pattern, with rainy and cool summers and warm winters. All seasons are suitable for travel.
The Niujiaozhai Scenic Area includes the natural landscape formed by 17,672 acres of contiguous terraced fields such as Liangxinzhai, Guoqi and Xin'anso. It is one of the Shouchong areas of the Red River Hani Terraces World Cultural Heritage.
