Located in Xiazhuang Subdistrict, Chengyang District, Laoshan Reservoir, also known as Yuezikou Reservoir, is located 1 kilometer east of Xiazhuang and is the source of the Baisha River. Laoshan Reservoir fully exploits its natural advantages, with few traces of artificial sculpting. With winding green mountains flanking its banks, a tranquil stream flows through, waterfowl frolic, and clouds and light shift, it has become a new attraction in Laoshan.
The protected areas primarily include Liuting Airport, the Jiaoji Railway, and three water sources in the urban area. The reservoir boasts excellent water quality, providing 75,000 cubic meters of water daily. Originally designed to irrigate 10,000 mu (approximately 16,000 acres), irrigation was halted after 1977 due to water shortages, and reservoir water is now used exclusively for urban domestic use.
Qingdao is located in the northern temperate monsoon region and has a temperate monsoon climate with humid air, abundant rainfall, moderate temperature and distinct four seasons.

Night visits and light shows are not available at Laoshan Reservoir. The area is best enjoyed during daylight hours when the natural beauty is most visible.
The reservoir is relatively less crowded during weekdays and off-peak seasons (fall and winter). Weekends and public holidays tend to be busier.
Basic facilities such as toilets, water fountains, and rest areas are available. There are no major food outlets, but small stalls selling snacks and refreshments can be found nearby.
