Introducing Lijiang City Library

Lijiang Library is located in the Old Town District of Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. The building has a total of 5 floors, of which floors 1 to 3 are equipped with public service facilities such as a comprehensive reading room for current newspapers, a local ethnic literature and information room, an open-shelf lending room, a multimedia reading room, a reading room for the visually impaired, a children's reading room, a comprehensive lending room, a multimedia reading area and a lecture hall. It is equipped with advanced intelligent and digital hardware equipment, integrating borrowing, visiting, learning, communication and exhibition, and can meet the various cultural needs of different reader groups such as book reading, information search, special research, etc., and provides services such as searching, translation and photocopying of books and periodicals.

The fourth floor houses the library's business, office, and logistics areas, including an editing and compiling room, a microfilm mounting and restoration room, administrative offices, and an ancient book disinfection room. The basement level houses a semi-underground parking garage for patrons. The newly completed Lijiang City Library can accommodate over 800 patrons simultaneously, making it the city's largest standard library and a landmark cultural facility.

By the end of 2015, the library had a collection of over 150,000 books, primarily local and ethnic literature, Dongba cultural classics, and original manuscripts, handwritten notes, transcripts, photocopies, and correspondence from local celebrities, experts, and scholars. In addition, the Municipal Library also houses the latest research findings from recent years at home and abroad on Naxi Dongba culture and local ethnic cultures.
